A number named "zero"

This was copied from my FB status today:

One day, there's a number named zero. He feels unloved and excluded. He thinks that everybody despises him because they always count from one, not from him. They only notice his existence when there's nothing. But there are some reasons why mathematicians invented him. Without him, people cannot define nothingness, develop decimal number system, invent set theory, and build a machine named computer. So, the moral of the story is that you have to be grateful for everything you have, for you have never been nothing, and you are loved! :)

Jumat sore. Cuaca di Melbourne dilaporkan mendung dengan suhu 16 derajat. Sekarang gue ada di lab sendirian nungguin program terminate. Hari ini bisa2nya gue lupa bawa buku buat mengatasi kebosanan gue, jadilah gue daritadi browsing2 tanpa tujuan.

By the way tanggal 23 besok nyokap gue mau nengok gue ke Melbourne. Yuhuuu senang! Nanti ajak nyokap jalan2 kemana ya? St Kilda beach? Great ocean road? Apa Phillip Island sekalian ya? Ah jadi gak sabar nunggu nyokap dateng :D

Akhir2 ini gue pulang malem terus dari kampus, tidurpun pasti diatas jam 2. Badan gue berasa sakit2 setiap hari. Minum vitamin sih, cuman kayaknya vitamin gak cukup, gue butuh istirahat beneran. Dan jangan kira weekend gue juga bisa istirahat, gue tetep kerja pas weekend ngejar deadline hari selasa tiap minggu. Hah derita mahasiswa dengan kemampuan koding pas2an memang begini :( Gue musti catch up sama ekspektasi profesor gue yang tinggi banget. Baiklah, mari anggap itu tantangan, bukan beban.

A Game of Thrones

Di tengah kesibukan gue ngerjain tesis, gue masih meluangkan waktu gue buat baca novel, yah walopun bacanya cuman pas lagi di kreta sih. Novel yang lagi gue baca sekarang judulnya A Game of Thrones karangan George RR Martin.

Diawali dari rekomendasi salah seorang teman gue yaitu si Angga. Dia excited banget sama novel ini. Dia juga yang merekomendasikan gue untuk baca Discworld Seriesnya Terry Pratchett. Karena rekomendasi dia yang dulu-dulu itu sejauh ini gue suka, pas dia merekomendasikan A Game of Thrones ke gue, gue berasumsi gue akan suka. Ditambah lagi reviewnya yang bagus di Goodreads dan lagi ada offer best seller di Big W (dari yang tadinya 17 dolar jadi cuman 11 dolar). Akhirnya gue membeli buku yang tebelnya kira-kira sama kayak high heels gue ini :D

Cerita di novel ini sebenernya agak ribet karena tokohnya buanyak banget. Temanya tentang perebutan kekuasaan oleh beberapa keluarga kerajaan gitu. Tapi bukan yang melodramatis macem Angling Dharma atau Tutur Tinular gitu sih, cerita disini lebih menekankan ke pengaruh sebuah keluarga di kerajaan, status sosial mereka, dan lain sebagainya.

Sebenernya ada seriesnya sih di HBO. Pengen banget download, cuman gue udah tobat gak mau ngambil-ngambilin illegal content yang seharusnya didapatkan dengan gak gratis. Kasian George RR Martinnya, nanti uang pensiunnya kurang :p Nunggu DVDnya keluar kira-kira brapa lama ya? Harganya juga pasti mahal huhuhu. Yasudahlah, mari kita kelarin bukunya dulu. Gue baru baca 100 halaman dari kira2 800 halaman sih. Udah mulai sedikit seru. Ada benci-bencian, iri-irian, dan lain sebagainya.

Nama-nama tokoh di novel ini juga bagus-bagus banget, kayak Catelyn Tully, Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, dan lain sebagainya. Gak tau lagi deh gue isi kepalanya George RR Martin udah kayak apa. He's an extremely genius writer. Jeniusnya epic collosal gitu, gak macem fantasi lucu-lucu kayak Terry Pratchett. Tapi gue bener-bener gak bisa ngebayangin gimana sih awalnya mereka berdua bisa dapet ide buat buku seperti buku-buku itu.

Sekarang hari Sabtu. Harusnya gue ngoding tesis sih, tapi beberapa hari ini gue udah ngoding nonstop dari pagi sampe sore. Baca dulu ah, ngodingnya nanti sorean aja :p

welcome 20!

I used to be somehing-teen. Today i finally turn 20. I'm still the same old Tieta. I love both studying and procrastinating, both festivity and solitude, both romantic and horror movies, and both geometry and algebra. I still watch many children movies, read children books, and buy a lot of toys. I still love to draw cute things, eat a very huge amount of ice cream, and still have a constant battle with my diet plan. I still often fall down the stairs, laugh without reason, and do my best in everything. I'm not perfect, I'm just a regular girl who loves to put a smile in everyone's face.

Dear God, I used to be scared of being old, but soon I realize there's nothing to be scared of because I have You. Thank you for Your love :)
